Dairy Vietnam - This is the interview with Mr. Ho Joong, General Director of Dalat Milk Company, conducted by the Travel & Entertainment magazine in its November issue. Dairy Vietnam would like to introduce our readers to a new brand name coming into the dairy market.
Dalat Milk have first name is Lado Milk (Lam Dong Milk) is established in 1976 and managed by Department of Livestock – Ministry of Agriculture and Rural development. Coming into operation for 2 years, but Dalat Milk Company has created creditworthiness of product quality to the highlanders in particular.
Reporter: Could you briefly introduce Dalat Milk Company, Sir?
Mr. Ho Joong: The brand Dalat Milk came into being 2 years ago, with a breeder dairy cow raising farm 570ha in Don Duong District, Lam Dong Province, and Dalat Milk Company was established, producing freshly pasteurized milk with the brand: Dalat Milk.
Reporter: What are the Company’s futuristic investments and developments?
Mr. Ho Joong: Currently, we have 2 dairy cow raising farms, which 800 milk cows and will be expand to 1200 in the future in Don Duong District, Lam Dong Province. With a high quality milk input, the Company is building and investing in advanced milk processing technology.
The input materials are carefully examined before processing complete products by technology imported from Germany. The machinery system and the packaging line are imported from Japan and the Netherlands. Moreover, a team of TQM experts are foreigners with rich experience (30-year experience in quality control in Korean dairy companies) will make customers feel secure about the quality of Dalat Milk Company’s dairy products.
The first product of Dalat Milk launched into the market was pasteurized Dalat Milk. However, Dalat Milk Company will launch other dairy products such as yogurt and condensed milk... The customers will find that the Company’s products are not only of good quality but also rich, diversified and nutritious from pure milk.
In the future, Dalat Milk will focus on developing the three main markets: Da Lat, Ho Chi Minh City and Nha Trang. In addition, the Company plans to develop its business in the Mekong Delta, particularly the construction of a factory in Long An.
Reporter: Could you explain more clearly the difference between pasteurized milk and sterilized milk? Why pasteurized milk has only 9-day validity while other terilized milk products have longer validity time, from 6-12 months?

Mr. Ho Joong: Pasteurized milk is processed from 100% high quality pure dairy milk. By the method of pasteurizing invented by Doctor Pasteur, freshly pure milk is pasteurized in relatively high temperature and then cooled immediately. Therefore, the use and storage of milk should be best in temperatures from 2 oC – 4 oC, and the storage time is about 9 days. Pasteurized Dalat Milk ensures adequate nutrients in fresh cow milk such as protein, fat, vitamins and minerals necessary for brain and height development, meeting the body’s energy consumption daily.
Reporter: As a main sponsor for the program “Da Lat – A rendezvous for Love”, do you think of any opportunity to promote the brand in Da Lat Flower Festival 2010?
Mr. Ho Joong: The Flower Festival is one of the crucial festivals, more specifically; it is also the preparatory ceremony for the program 1,000-year anniversary of Thang Long - Hanoi. Therefore, Dalat Milk brand wants to contribute to enriching the program Da Lat Flower Festival in general, and the program “Da Lat- A rendezvous for Love” in particular. Joining this Festival, in addition to significant social meaning, we hope to bring the high quality brand Dalat Milk to the customers!
